Prayer – Focus 2

I struggled to pray for more than a few minutes without my mind wandering. One day I realized that I write to think. My mind slows down and my thoughts organize and flow when I write. I make important decisions after I sit down and write my thoughts. It helps to have my eyes and fingers coordinate with my mind in the process of thinking. I was impressed that I should write my prayers. It proved to be a great blessing! What was once a few words spoken at the speed of thought, now transformed into a time of organized communication involving worship, praise, thanksgiving, petition and sometimes just lingering in God’s presence.

What is your most effective way of organizing your thought? What do you do when you think about important things? What do you do when you need to communicate an important message? You can use the same tool to focus on God while praying. Some need to take a walk. Some speak it out loud. Maybe there is a special place to pray, a special posture. Ask God to show you your personal prayer tool. As simple as it seems, it will facilitate the spiritual aspects of praying.
